What does this session entail?

In this season’s VRC, we are focusing on two distances to work towards (or refine): the Mile or the 5K (3.1 miles). These distance targets are completely optional, so if you’re looking for support, structure, and help with consistency, this group is also for you. These distances can be intimidating for some (even seasoned runners!), but the focus is about breaking down our training and perceptions so we can embrace our inner athlete and move forward. Other focus areas include progressive intervals, playing with your ‘running gears,’ and learning how to self-motivate and embrace where running meets us. With consistency, you will find you will build a great ‘base’ of running and feel stronger along the way. You get 7 weeks of customized programming designed for all levels, with scalable workouts based on your individual progress each week. By tracking your runs on Strava, Coach Rachel is able to give customized feedback and workouts each week. (plus cheers!)

Comprehensive Coaching and Support.

This comprehensive program offers three Live Virtual group debrief sessions with your running coach and support for injury prevention, run conditioning and mobility with Cadence of Brooklyn Strength. You always have access to the recordings in case you can’t make it live.

On top of the live Virtual experiences, you have access to weekly recorded 10-30 minute Fascia Release™ modules PLUS 30-minute cardio workouts every other week to continue to support balance in your training both physically and mentally.

How Hard is it?

This program is ‘scalable’ for all abilities; whether you consider yourself a true beginner to the running scene, or ‘a runner’ is already part of your identity, you’ll work on adjusting your range of efforts (and pace) at the same time. This program can be a solid foundation or ‘base’ for your running and movement habits. Or, you will build onto your current progress no matter your perceived ‘level’ and take the next step in your training or future running goals. We know everyone is going to have different goals (and would love to hear them in our first session!). While each athlete can decide which distance to train for: the Mile or the 5K (3.1 miles), the Spring program will focus on interval training to keep you active and consistent each week. You'll work on variations of speed and intensity, plus increase your mobility and strength, both at home and in your running shoes! The program will be designed for anyone looking to establish a good routine for their cardio activities, but also interested in becoming more playful with their range of paces/efforts as well as building their strength (on every level).

Our Goal

While each athlete will ultimately train to complete the mile or 5K distance, the primary goal is to provide a supportive community, and a structured safe training approach as we run together, in our own locations. Our hope is for everyone to become a stronger, more informed, more self-aware runner.

Your Team Leaders

Cadence

I have been studying Anatomy and movement since I was a teenager. This stuff fascinates me. I could call myself a Movement Professional, a Fitness Professional, a Bodyworker, a Pilates Teacher, a Personal Trainer, whatever the label, I teach you efficient body mechanics and embodied strength. My teaching is a combination of all the teachers and modalities I’ve experienced and incorporate into my own body. Pilates is a philosophy, not a fixed system, the study of Fascia tissue is constantly evolving. I seek to reflect that wisdom by continuing to grow and develop alongside my clients.

Rachel is a RRCA Certified Running Coach, a Pre & Post Natal Corrective Exercise Specialist, and wellness enthusiast. • Instead of: Runners are people who wake up early, feel joy while runnong, are ”fit” and where lots of nike gear. I’m Learning: there is no one size fits all. Running looks like whatever you need it to. Stop comparing. Just go.
