Post Surgery Self Care Workshop

  • lululemon The Hub Seventeen 115 5th Avenue New York, NY, 10003 United States (map)

In this specialized workshop Brooklyn Strength, studio founder, Cadence Dubus will guide participants through 90 minutes of scar tissue softening and chest opening self-massage. We will seek to untangle the complexities that come with tissue removal and the integration of a transformed torso and shoulder structure. The goal of this workshop is to create a safe space to explore and mitigate any physical effects of Top Surgery that may lead to overly tight pecs, shoulders, scar pain, and postural issues. The population receiving this surgery is often young and deserves to carry their new body into old age with freedom and ease.

In addition, we will have presentations from Alexes Hazen MD Plastic Surgeon and D'hana Perry who will help provide additional resources to self-care post-op.

This is an open workshop for anyone pre or post-surgery.

Important info:

The workshop starts at 1 pm and runs until 4 pm, this includes introductions, presentations, and networking. All participants will receive a goody bag and a folder of resources provided by The OUT Foundation. Light snacks and beverages will also be provided to everyone in attendance.

Please notes that this is a free event for the transgender/gender non-binary community. If you are coming as an observer for education or training, we ask that you consider donating to the event so that we continue to have free workshops like this. Also, if you are interested in the specific technique from Cadence, we ask that you reach out to her directly.
