Cadence Dubus

Cadence Dubus received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College in Dance, Literature and Int'l Law. She completed two years of undergraduate work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Dance Technique and Choreography. She is certified in the Steele Method of Mat Pilates and received her Pilates Equipment certification from Bent Studio, NYC. She is trained in Functional Anatomy through master Anatomists Irene Dowd, Peggy Gould and Tom Myers.

 She opened Brooklyn Strength: Pilates and Personal Training Studio on Dec. 18th, 2010 and collaborated with co-founder Manuel Zelaya to open Brooklyn Strength Cobble Hill September 7th, 2014.

 She is a graduate of the Northeastern School of Botanical Medicine, Ithaca NY.  Cadence is certified to teach Kettlebells, through the International Kettlebell and Fitness Federation (IKFF).  She is certified in pre and post natal Pilates through the Kane School/Kinected Center. She regularly attends continuing education workshops, most recently with master Integrative Kinesiologist Tom Myers and Holistic OBGYN Dr. Eden Fromberg on the Female Pelvis, Fascia and Functional Movement.

Cadence has been a student of Iyengar, Vinyasa, Hatha and Kundalini Yoga since she was a teenager and is a student of Master Teacher, Erin Dudley.

She has extensive experience in Alexander Technique, rehabilitative bodywork, Structural Integration and was a volunteer at the Acupuncture for AIDS center in Boston, MA. 

As a Choreographer, she has shown her work at the Krannert Center for Performing Arts, Champaign, IL, Bushwick Arts Festival SITEFEST, NYC, Chez Bushwick's AMBUSH series, NYC, co-produced an evening length production at the Tank Theater, NYC with collaborator Bryan Campbell, and co-produced, with Caitlin Marz, a daylong performance as part of Bushwick Arts. She continues her professional dance work with regular classes and workshops most recently with Ultima Vez Dance Company in Brussels, Belgium. 

Cadence lives in South Park Slope, Brooklyn with her Pitbull, Sugar, and a tiny Chihuahua named Pigeon.
